Consent Withdrawal

Version 2.0  ·  Effective 27 July 2026  ·  DPP Law N° 058/2021, Article 8  ·  Bodiop Ltd · TIN 155969694

Your right. You can withdraw your consent at any time. It is free, it takes one message, we will not ask you to justify it, and we will not try to talk you out of it.

The only consequence is the intended one: your personalised alerts stop.

1. Choose how much to withdraw

Withdrawal is not all-or-nothing. Most people want one of these three:

If you want to…Send thisWhat happens
Remove only the optional details — gender, refugee status, disability status — and keep your alerts REMOVE OPTIONAL Those three fields are deleted. Your subscription and daily alerts continue normally.
Stop the alerts but keep your profile in case you return CANCEL Alerts and billing stop. Your profile is kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.
Withdraw completely and have your data erased WITHDRAW CONSENT or STOP ALL Everything stops and your personal data is deleted — see section 3.

2. How to send it

There is no form to fill in. Use whichever is easiest:

We confirm receipt within 24 hours. Because the request comes from your own registered number or email, we will not ask you for identity documents. If a request reaches us from somewhere we cannot connect to an account, we will ask one simple question to confirm it is you — not to obstruct you, but so nobody can cancel someone else's account.

Withdrawal is free. We will never charge a fee or require you to speak to anyone first.

3. What happens next

WhenWhat happens
Within 24 hoursWe confirm we have received your request
ImmediatelyNo further MoMo payment request is ever sent to your number
Within 7 daysAll personalised alerts stop
Within 30 daysYour profile and personal data are deleted — sooner if you ask for immediate erasure
On completionYou receive a final confirmation that your data has been deleted

Optional special-category data — gender, refugee status, disability status — is deleted as soon as we process your request, without waiting for the 30-day window.

Aggregated statistics that can no longer identify you are not deleted, because they are no longer your personal data.

4. Money, payments and the honest limits

There is no mandate to cancel

Bodiop holds no debit mandate, standing order or pre-approved payment authority over your MTN Mobile Money account. Every charge we have ever made required you to approve a request with your own PIN.

So there is nothing for you to revoke at MTN, and nothing we could charge you even if we tried. Once you withdraw, we simply stop sending requests. If an older version of this page mentioned a "Debit Mandate", it was wrong and this section replaces it.

If you have already paid for the current period

Withdrawing consent stops future billing. It does not by itself refund the period you have already paid for. You may keep receiving alerts until that period ends, or ask us to stop them immediately — your choice, and stopping them early does not create a refund. Refunds are covered in clause 8 of our Terms of Service.

What we must keep, and why

If you have paid us, Rwandan tax and accounting law requires us to keep a record of that transaction even after you withdraw. That record is limited to the amount, the date and the reference needed to tie it to a payment. It is locked to that purpose only — never used to contact you, match you, or market to you — and is deleted when the statutory period ends.

This is the one thing a deletion request cannot remove, and we would rather say so plainly than promise a total erasure we cannot deliver.

Processing already carried out

Withdrawal takes effect from the moment you make it and is not retrospective: processing we lawfully carried out before you withdrew remains lawful. Processing that rests on a basis other than consent — such as keeping the accounting record above — may continue on that basis alone.

5. Coming back later

You are welcome back at any time. Sign up again at bodiop.rw and give fresh consent. Because your previous data was deleted, you start with a clean profile — nothing is restored from before, so you will need to enter your preferences again.

Returning after withdrawal does not disadvantage you. You get the same prices and, if you did not use it before, the same free trial.

6. If we get it wrong

If you withdraw and still receive a message from us, tell us at privacy@bodiop.rw — that is a failure on our side and we will fix it and explain what happened.

You can also complain at any time to the Data Protection and Privacy Office of the National Cyber Security Authority at cyber.gov.rw. You do not have to come to us first, though it is usually faster.

Your other rights — access, correction, portability, objection — are set out in section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
